Gun Rights Restored in Ramsey County

Our client was subject to a lifetime prohibition on possessing firearms and ammunition due to a felony conviction from many years ago. After living a law-abiding life, maintaining steady employment, and demonstrating his rehabilitation, he wanted to regain his constitutional right to possess firearms so he could once again participate in hunting and other lawful sporting activities with his family.

We petitioned the Ramsey County District Court to restore the client’s firearm rights. The petition and legal memorandum detailed the client’s rehabilitation, his successful reintegration into the community, and the reasons restoration was appropriate under Minnesota law. We also prepared and presented legal arguments at a hearing in the district court demonstrating that restoring the client’s rights would not pose a risk to public safety and that good cause existed for the court to grant the petition.

Following a hearing, the Ramsey County District Court granted the petition and restored the client’s firearm rights. As a result, the client is once again able to lawfully possess firearms and ammunition and enjoy the rights and privileges that accompany lawful firearm ownership in our great state.
