David Lundgren Selected for Minnesota Legal 250 Recognition — A Reflection of Teamwork, Trust, and Shared Purpose
Lundgren & Johnson, PSC, Criminal Defense Attorneys is proud to share that David R. Lundgren has been selected for Minnesota Lawyer’s Minnesota Legal 250 recognition in the Defense Attorneys category.
The Minnesota Legal 250 is Minnesota Lawyer’s premier recognition program celebrating the most influential and accomplished attorneys throughout the state. Each year, Minnesota Lawyer editors spotlight leaders shaping the state’s legal profession across a number of practices.
The Minnesota Legal 250 recognizes attorneys who have made a meaningful impact within Minnesota’s legal community. For David, this recognition is a tremendous honor. But at Lundgren & Johnson, it is also understood as something broader than an individual achievement. It is a recognition of a partnership, a shared body of work, and the collaborative approach that has defined the firm from the beginning.
David’s selection reflects not only his dedication to criminal defense, appellate advocacy, DWI/DUI defense, and Title IX defense, but also the contribution, partnership, and collaboration of his law partner, Adam T. Johnson. For 16 years, David and Adam have worked together in the field of criminal defense. For the last ten years, they have operated Lundgren & Johnson together, building a criminal defense firm grounded in preparation, trust, strategic thinking, and a shared commitment to defending people facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
At Lundgren & Johnson, cases are not handled in isolation. David and Adam work together. They talk through difficult facts, complicated legal issues, trial themes, appellate questions, and strategic decisions. They rely on each other for direction, judgment, strategic planning, case strategy, and trial preparation. They try cases together. They challenge each other’s thinking. They refine arguments together. They prepare together. And when the stakes are highest, they draw on the strength of a partnership built over many years of shared work.
That is why this recognition, although bearing David’s name, is deeply connected to Adam’s work and to the partnership they have built together. The firm’s success has never been about one lawyer alone. It has been about a team approach to serious criminal defense, and about the trust that allows two lawyers to push each other, support each other, and bring their best judgment to every case.
David and Adam have spent the past decade building Lundgren & Johnson with a simple but demanding purpose: to provide thoughtful, creative, and relentless advocacy for people accused of crimes. Their work often begins at moments of crisis. Clients come to the firm facing investigations, charges, trials, appeals, professional consequences, family disruption, public scrutiny, and uncertainty about the future. In those moments, clients need more than legal knowledge. They need steady counsel, careful planning, honest advice, and lawyers who understand what is truly at stake.
That work is made stronger by collaboration. A serious case often requires more than one perspective. It requires patience, judgment, creativity, and the willingness to test assumptions before stepping into court. David and Adam’s partnership is built around that process. They study the facts together, examine the law together, think through the risks together, and prepare for hearings and trials with the understanding that every decision matters.
As Lundgren & Johnson marks its tenth year in practice, David and Adam are also deeply aware that the firm’s success has been shaped by the trust and generosity of colleagues throughout the legal community. Over the years, attorneys, professionals, and community members have referred clients to the firm, invited David and Adam into difficult legal conversations, collaborated on strategic relationships, and maintained open lines of communication about challenging legal issues.
Those relationships matter. They reflect a legal community that understands the importance of trusted referrals, candid discussion, and professional respect. David and Adam are grateful to the many colleagues who have entrusted them with clients, sought their perspective, shared insights, and helped create the professional relationships that allow Lundgren & Johnson to serve people in serious and complicated cases. The firm’s growth has been strengthened by those connections, and this recognition is also a reflection of that broader community of trust.
Most importantly, David and Adam recognize that none of this would be possible without their clients.
Every case begins with trust. When a person hires a criminal defense lawyer, they are often placing their future, reputation, liberty, career, family, and peace of mind in that lawyer’s hands. David and Adam do not take that lightly. They are humbled by the people who have turned to Lundgren & Johnson time and time again when everything is on the line.
The firm has had the privilege of representing clients in some of the most serious and difficult cases a person can face. That privilege comes with responsibility. David and Adam understand that their role is not only to advocate, but to be stewards of the trust placed in them. That means preparing thoroughly, communicating honestly, thinking strategically, and treating each case with the seriousness it deserves.
Gratitude is at the center of this recognition. Gratitude for the partnership that made the work possible. Gratitude for colleagues who have referred cases, shared wisdom, and supported the firm’s growth. And above all, gratitude for clients who have trusted Lundgren & Johnson with their most important legal matters.
Criminal defense plays an essential role in a healthy legal system. Our community is stronger when its courts are fair, when the government is held to its burden, when constitutional rights are protected, and when every person accused of a crime has access to meaningful advocacy. A well-functioning and trustworthy judicial system does not exist by accident. It depends on judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, court staff, jurors, witnesses, and citizens all doing their part.
For David and Adam, criminal defense is their part of that larger responsibility. Their work is rooted in the belief that the justice system is better when the defense is prepared, courageous, and effective. It is better when difficult questions are asked. It is better when evidence is tested. It is better when the rights of the accused are protected, not as an abstraction, but in real cases involving real people and real consequences.
David’s selection for the Minnesota Legal 250 is an honor for him, for Adam, and for Lundgren & Johnson. But more than that, it is an opportunity to reflect on what has made the firm’s first ten years possible: partnership, collaboration, professional trust, client trust, and a shared commitment to the work of criminal defense.
David and Adam are grateful for the recognition, grateful for the people who have helped make the firm what it is, and committed to continuing to earn that trust in every case they handle.
