The client and her boyfriend were stopped in Anoka County for suspicious driving and traffic violations. The boyfriend was arrested for a DWI. The client was a passenger, and a handgun and drugs were allegedly found in her purse. The police seized the vehicle and nearly $4,000 in cash for forfeiture. Adam filed a complaint in Anoka County District Court challenging the forfeiture. Adam was able to convince the county attorney’s office that the search and seizure of the drugs and gun were unlawful. Before trial, the county attorney’s office agreed to return the vehicle and the cash to the client by a stipulated settlement.
