Our client was charged with gross misdemeanor obstructing legal process with force and fleeing a peace officer following a tense encounter with officers in the City of White Bear Lake. According to the charges, the client attempted to evade the police and then engaged them in a 20-minute struggle in which the client was tasered and eventually tranquilized by responding medics. The entirety of the encounter was captured on squad camera. Despite the difficult facts and the uphill battle in court, we successfully achieved diversion for the client. After six months, the case will be dismissed without any conviction or finding of guilt. The client will also be eligible to have all of the records relating to the case sealed.
