The client, a high school student, was accused of third degree criminal sexual conduct by two classmates. After reviewing the discovery in the case and conducting an independent investigation,Adam was able to secure a settlement for the client whereby the client entered Alford pleas to the two counts charged. The client received a stay of adjudication on both counts, which meant that if the client successfully completed probation, he would not have a conviction for any crime. Additionally, the Alford pleas allowed the client to maintain his innocence. By having adjudication stayed, the client was also able to avoid the requirement of registering as a predatory offender. The client successfully completed probation, and the case was dismissed by the district court in its entirety.
