Our client was charged with domestic assault in Hennepin County following an incident with her boyfriend. After investigating the case, Adam was able to convince the prosecutor to allow the client to plead guilty pursuant to North Carolina v. Alford to an amended count of disorderly conduct, with a stay of adjudication. Under the Alford plea, the client was able to maintain her innocence of any wrongdoing. Additionally, the stay of adjudication meant that the client’s case will be dismissed in its entirety at the end of one year of probation, without any finding or adjudication of guilt. The client will avoid a conviction altogether, and the case will be dismissed.
